Shaguna is a young mental health practitioner who envisions counselling as a collaborative relationship centred around the client and all that they bring with them. She believes that through counselling sessions, the therapist and the client together attempt to create a space that is supportive, empowering, and free from judgement, such that the client feels secure to undertake the journey of self-exploration. In this journey, she plays the role of a facilitator and a supporter.
Her practice is primarily embedded in a person-centered approach and she frequently borrows from tenets of narrative therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. In her sessions, she attempts to bring in the multitude of identities that exist for each client and the meaning each holds. Her practice is trauma-informed. With an experience of over 300 counselling hours, she has previously worked with adolescent and adult clients dealing with concerns such as anxiety, low mood, emotional dysregulation, navigating transitions, and family and relationship-related concerns.
