Calibration is the process of checking the performance of a measuring device against a standard of proven or traceable accuracy.
Whilst weighbridge calibration is not a legal requirement (unless you’re using it for trade, see below), it’s highly recommended. Without a calibration certificate, you have no way of knowing whether your weighbridge is measuring accurately & correctly, or if you can rely on the measurements its producing so weighbridge calibration is done to ensure the weighbridge is accurately measuring the weight placed on it.
You risk to pay multiple fines by not having your weighbridge calibrated regularly ensure that your business vehicles remain compliant on the roads by having your weighbridge calibrated.
A UNRA officer who pulls over your vehicle doesn’t care if your weighbridge or axle pads are compliant; they care what their vehicle scales measure at the time of weighing. It saves to have your weighbridge calibrated to avoid any potential problems.
